POSITION TITLE: Manufacturing Scheduler/Planner

REPORTS TO: Director of Business Logistics

SUMMARY:     Responsible for converting the total customer demand and forecast as assigned into an achievable and reasonable production schedule.  Also directly responsible for the management of finished goods inventory levels when applicable, and indirectly responsible for raw material driven by forecast.  Responsible for completing reports such as ISO documentation for production planning and backlog reporting of sales.

PRE-REQUISITE: Must meet the following criteria: Ability to read and follow assembly instructions/ prints, ability to operate production machines as needed. Must have good leadership and problem-solving skills.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

(E) 1.  Manage assigned customers to include entering requirements into business information system.  Develop schedules and internal plans for assigned customer forecasts, PO’s, LOI’s    and RMA’s.  Reconcile difference between forecast, firm plan, and capacity plan.

(E) 2. Work closely with Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Program Management to ensure product builds are effectively managed to meet our commitments to customers.

(E) 3. Support customer service functions, providing link between customer needs and the necessary departments to support customer requirements.

(E) 4. Work with Program Management and customer to plan for demand change.   Notify Program Manager of changes that may affect manufacturing, sales, profitability, and general state of business changes for Electronic Systems, Inc.

(E) 5.  Work with Manufacturing to schedule work load for maximized efficient use of company resources, including inventory, machine/work center utilization and associate time resources.

(E) 6. Review and sign off ECNs and deviations in a timely manner.

(E) 7. Work closely with Buyers to support activity of reducing or containing costs, minimizing inventory and supporting Electronic Systems Inc.’s commitment for timely communication to customers.

(E) 8. Notify Program Manager and Buyer of any customer cancellations or changes  to ensure that all costs associated with changes have been reviewed and communicated to the Program Manager.

(E) 9. Participate in customer meetings and follow up on assigned issues in a timely manner.

(E) 10. Maintain Planner SOPs and revise as needed and document customer specific requirements, contact information, etc. and update as necessary.

(E) 11. Communicate to appropriate associates all changes related to ISO procedures.

12.  Provide leadership and support as assigned, creating any required reports for Electronic Systems Inc. departments or management requirement.

13. Performs all other duties as assigned.

PRE-REQUISITE: Four-year college degree in related field or its equivalent required. One- two years’ experience in planning and customer service, preferably in electronics manufacturing production control environment using MRP/ERP system.  Possession of a working knowledge of spreadsheet, database, and word processing software applications desired.  Must communicate effectively both orally and in writing.  Must have high degree of problem solving skills.  Willing to pursue APICS certifications.

CONTACTS:  Frequent external and internal contacts with customers, associates, resource people and suppliers.

WORKING CONDITIONS:  General office and production environment.

ACCOUNTABILITY:  The Planner is responsible for efficient inventory management, materials planning, and scheduling of production for Electronic Systems, Inc.  Must present a professional image and demonstrate strong analytical skills.  A strong understanding of inventory management, production planning and customer service is required.  Is accountable for practicing and promoting safe working habits, compliance with Company policies/procedures, and contribution to the overall Electronic Systems, Inc. team.
